The ideal affordable family meal is American goulash, sometimes referred to as traditional goulash. This filling dish just requires one pot because the pasta cooks in the sauce.

2 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil

3 cups chopped onion

2 pound lean ground beef

4 large cloves garlic, minced

4 teaspoons paprika

2 teaspoon Italian seasoning

2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon ground pepper

2 (28 ounce) can no-salt-added diced tomatoes, undrained

2 (16 ounce) can no-salt-added tomato sauce

2 cup low-sodium beef or chicken broth

2 1/2 cups whole-wheat elbow macaroni

4 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

In a sizable frying pan, heat the oil over medium-high heat. When the beef is no longer pink, add the onion and simmer, breaking up the meat with a wooden spoon, for about 5 minutes. Cook, stirring, for 1 minute after adding the garlic, paprika, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Add tomato sauce, broth, and any remaining juices from the tomatoes. up to a boil. Cook for 5 minutes with lid on and medium-low heat. Add the macaroni and simmer it for 6 to 9 minutes, stirring regularly while it cooks. Before serving, remove from heat and allow stand for 4 minutes.
